Welcome! Our parish site exists to meet the needs of its members, and to help those members in times of hardship. We worship together as a community of believers. We support one another’s values and beliefs. We nurture the faith of our members in a variety of ways including adult education programs, a parish grammar school, and education for school students.

Saluda River Baptist Church Staff

Senior Pastor
Greetings! I have the privilege of leading a great group of Christians at Saluda River Baptist Church. I have served 25 years overseas as a missionary (Asia) and have more than ten years of pastoral ministry experience. My wife, Jane, and I have two children and six grandchildren. I graduated from Charleston Southern University (B.A.) in 1975, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.) in 1978, and Columbia International University (D.Min.) in 1998. My life verse is from Philippians 1:20-21, “My eager expectation and hope is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all boldness, Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For me, living is Christ and dying is gain.”
I believe in and practice, in the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lordship of Christ. I believe this is the call of God on every believer’s life, and that God’s Spirit enables us to grow increasingly in that direction as we walk with Him. I believe the Bible is God’s word, and that God honors His word and uses it in our lives to help grow us into the image of Christ, so I preach it without apology. I am grateful to God for what He has done in my life through the years, and for the way He continues to shape me.
I invite YOU to join with us in this great journey of walking in God’s love with one another and reaching out to a world that needs to know His love.

Minister of Education and Students
George Skinner has been on staff at Saluda River since April of 2008. His responsibilities include children and youth ministries as well as Sunday school. His greatest desire is to see those in our church and community come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and then to be disciple into faithful Christ followers.
George is a 1993 graduate of The Citadel (B.S.). He worked for ten years with the state of SC and International Paper Company as an environmental/safety engineer before answering the call to ministry. He graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2006 with his Master of Divinity degree.
George and his wife, Heather, have been married since 1994. They live in Lexington and are blessed with five children: George, Jordie, Jake, Jaclyn, and Julianna Joy.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
